Each comment displays a list of managers. Managers and administrators can view this list if they have the View comment managers permission.
The comment manager list displays managers in the order of closeness to the employee, as per employee-type attributes. Example: Manager.
In the case of multiple employee-type attributes, the list displays manager names from both attributes.
The list doesn't display names of managers who are segment managers of the segment that the comment displays in. Example: Option-type attributes, such as Business Unit.
Edge Cases
Situation | Explanation |
---|---|
The list displays no managers. |
This situation can mean:
|
The same comment displays inconsistencies in the manager list through different segments. |
The comment manager list displays managers whose segments meet the visibility threshold in the context you're viewing. This situation means you can't display the manager's segment in the context you're in. Their name doesn't display on comments in that segment context to ensure consistency and confidentiality. |
The list displays a manager whose assigned segments don't contain the comment. |
The comment comes from a segment that is a child segment of a segment they manage. Although the segment doesn't display on the manager's Managing tab, they can switch their context to that segment, and view the comment. |
A manager can view the comment, but their name doesn't display in the list on the comment. |
The segment of the manager didn't meet the visibility requirements in that segment context. This doesn't necessarily mean the manager can't view the comment in the segment context they're using. Example: In the context you're viewing, the manager segment is too similar to another available segment, so it's not visible. However, when the manager views their standalone segment, they can still view it due to not having the same segment conflict. Additionally, this scenario could also be due to the manager being part of 2 types of access control groups (Managed employees vs All employees), and only the All employees type group has access to the question set that the comment is part of. |
The list doesn't display the name of a certain manager, even though the comment definitely comes from their team. |
The segment of the manager didn't meet the visibility requirements in that segment context. |
The comment doesn't display in the Direct Reports segment of the first manager in the list, but only displays in their All reports segment. |
The comment comes from an employee in their wider team, however the direct manager of the employee didn't meet visibility requirements. The comment manager list starts with the first manager who meets the visibility requirements. |
