With over 220 million responses from over 160 countries, our benchmarks are updated quarterly to reflect the new world of work in every industry. The following changes to the benchmark will be effective from February 22, 2022:
- Updated existing industry benchmarks
- Addition of new industry benchmarks
- Updated associated percentiles tied to each benchmark
Key highlights from our latest report
Overall
In previous updates for Q2 and Q3 2021, overall engagement benchmarks remained stable—which includes the 14 drivers of engagement, and their respective subdrivers. This trend has continued in Q4, with none of the overall engagement, Health & Wellbeing (H&W), or Belonging & Diversity (B&D) benchmarks having changed by more than 0.2.
Segments
Employee survey responses tell a slightly different story when looking at specific industries, with movement of greater than 0.2 across a handful of engagement questions related to autonomy and strategy, as well as H&W, which are highlighted below:
- Energy & Utilities
- Government
- Healthcare & Equipment
- Manufacturing
- Commercial & Professional Services

These changes will impact the base external benchmark score that your company has chosen to be compared to, difference to benchmark calculations shown in the heat map and on driver and question score pages. You may notice a change to your organization’s overall benchmark score and percentile placement, see our Help Centre for more information.
