This example illustrates how you can collect targeted segmentation data using editable attributes.
Scenario
You need to collect ethnicity data through editable attributes. The required specifications are:
- Employee response to this attribute is optional.
- Employees must consent to data collection, if they submit an answer.
- Employees in Germany are excluded from this attribute collection, but not excluded from the survey.
- All employees are part of the same survey.
Steps
- Navigate to Attributes within the Administration section.
- Click Add attribute.
- Enter the name. Example: Ethnicity.
- Set Attribute type to Option.
- Expand Data access. Set Require employee consent to Required.
- Expand Targeted data collection.
- Click Excluding, then select Germany.
- Click Save changes.
- Within the new attribute, click Add segment.
- Type a segment name, then click Add. Repeat until the attribute is complete.
- Navigate to Schedules within the Administration section.
- Click View on your survey schedule.
- Select the Attributes tab.
- In the Select attributes section, select the Ethnicity attribute you created in steps 2-8.
- Ensure employee response is set to Optional.
- Click Add attribute.
- Optional: Add a customized message and its translations in the Message section.
Result
After clicking Start survey, an employee can provide a response to the Ethnicity attribute by selecting a segment option which you created in steps 9-10. Employee response is optional, so employees can proceed without selecting an option. If an employee responds to the Ethnicity attribute, they must provide consent before they are able to proceed.
Next Steps
- If you need to include Germany in Ethnicity data collection, remove Germany as an excluded segment from Ethnicity.
- If you need to disable data collection for Ethnicity overall, remove the attribute from the schedule.
