Benchmarks are an essential part of understanding how organisations are performing against the competition, but only when they’re anchored in real-world expectations.
At Peakon we regularly review the data that informs our Benchmarking technology, and since we first started collecting data to inform our model over 5 years ago, there has been very little year-on-year change in mean scores — until the pandemic.
We are excited to announce that our latest benchmark update is now live for all our clients!
What are the key highlights of our Q1 update
Overall
After seeing major change in benchmark scores due to the COVID pandemic, employee perceptions have remained quite stable since September, reflecting the situation in much of the world (most countries back in lockdown).
Drivers
We've seen substantial change in scores for only two of our drivers: Autonomy - Remote work and Environment. The percentage of employees working remotely is actually lower than it was back in Q2 last year, so we believe the increase in Remote work score is due to organisations embracing remote work and making permanent changes to their policies. We believe the increase in Environment score is due to customers' continued efforts to support remote working environments and to improve office environments for employees who have returned to the office.
Segments
The only notable industry change is in Healthcare where Strategy - Mission has decreased, likely due to the challenges that healthcare workers face in realising their organisation's mission and purpose: services have been delayed or cancelled or are just more difficult to deliver remotely.
New Industry Benchmarks and True Benchmark office locations
As our customer base continuously grows with organisations from different markets and regions, our database is getting more granular. With our latest benchmark update, we have added new industries to benchmark against and True Benchmark now has more granularity in the office-location attribute to account for multi-ethnic teams from around the world.
