Editing an existing question
As the survey is available in a multitude of languages (See List of all languages), any amendments required on a question will need to be made on each language that your company is using. This will mean that when an employee completes their survey in that specific language, they will see the edited version of the question.
When editing a question, the edit must not change the meaning or sentiment of the question, due to it being benchmarked externally. The main category question cannot be edited.
The change will be live immediately, so it can be made during a live survey round. Any existing comments and the dashboard on this question will contain the new wording. However, it will not affect any historic data. It will simply appear as though it has used this wording from the start of time.
How to edit a question
- Go to Administration > Questions
- Open the Engagement category
- Click Edit on the question you wish to edit
- Expand the Localisation section
- Make the amendment in the required languages
- Save changes
Tip: If the survey is only restricted to a few specific languages, it is not necessary to edit the other language versions of the question. To check the languages allowed in your survey, go to Administration > Schedules > View > Survey settings.
Adding a new question
On any standard Peakon driver or sub-driver, it is possible to add up to 5 custom questions. A new question can be added to one of the existing engagement drivers or subdrivers. A new question can be added at any point, also during a live survey round. If enabled, it will immediately get added into the survey.
How to add a new question
- Go to Administration > Questions
- Open the Engagement category
- Click Add question
- Choose the Driver or Subdriver
- Type in the question
- Add any necessary localisations
- If needed, set targeting
- Save changes
Consideration: Multiple questions on one driver
A driver can have multiple questions, however this should be done with care, as it will affect participation on this question.
Scenario
A company is on a monthly survey frequency, and they have set the engagement subdriver frequency to 'quarterly'. This means that one question from each subdriver must be asked each quarter. The company has added a custom question to a engagement subdriver, so this subdriver now has two questions that are both active. Since each employee must receive one question from each subdriver per quarter, it will take longer for everyone to get through both questions.
Targeting a question
Targeting questions to only include or exclude specific employee groups allows companies to have all employees on the same schedule, while providing different groups with a slightly different question set, depending on their needs.
How to target a question
- Go to Administration > Questions
- Open the Engagement category
- Click Edit on the question you wish to edit
- Expand the Advanced section
- Add the targeting requirements
- Save changes
Removing a question
To stop using a standard engagement question, simply disable it by clicking the question toggle next to it. This will stop the question from being asked until it is enabled again. It will have no effect on historical data, which will continue to remain in place throughout the selected visibility period. It is not possible to remove the main category question.
To delete a custom question under engagement, click the Edit button, then click the trash icon in the top right corner of the edit panel. Similarly, this will also not have effect on historic data, but it will prevent the question from being used again.
Exporting questions
The engagement questions can be exported in any language. It is also possible to only export the active or inactive questions.
- Go to Administration > Questions
- Open the Engagement category
- Click Export
- Adjust the filters and proceed
Enabling segment branding on a question
Segment branding can be used to automatically update the company name in a standard engagement question based on a specific employee attribute. More precisely, it will ensure the placeholder (written as %s) in a question is replaced by the segment name, for each employee. See more in Segment branding.
