Prerequisites
Access to comments.
Context
In some instances, certain topics might not be helpful in understanding the themes from employee comments. Removing a topic from the dashboard stops the keyword generating topics in the future. You can also provide feedback on the reason you're removing a certain topic, to help the algorithm in learning to generate more meaningful topics in the future.
If an administrator removes a topic, they remove it from all contexts and manager views.
If a manager removes a topic, they remove it only from their own view, providing flexibility to focus on topics that help them interpret their employees’ comments.
Removing topics works across languages. Example: If you remove the word Feedback in English, but it also displays as a topic in French, you remove both versions. This process is only the case for exact words across languages.
It's not possible to remove a topic from semantic topics, because Peakon predefines the available themes for semantic topics.
Steps
- Go to the Topics page in the left sidebar of the Insights tab.
- Remove the topic that you need to exclude using either option:
- Open the dashboard of the topic and click the trash icon.
- Hover over the topic extract on the main topics page and click the trash icon.
- Click Yes, remove it to confirm.
Result
Excluding a topic also stops its theme and extract from displaying on the Topics page.
An Excluded topics section displays at the bottom of the main Topics page, if you have removed any topics.
It's possible to undo excluding a topic, however it won't regenerate topics for the existing round. Removing an excluded topic enables Peakon to generate it as a topic again in future survey rounds, if it meets the required criteria.
To undo a topic exclusion, click Edit excluded topics, then click Remove next to an excluded topic.
